Po v\u00e1lce, koncem 40. let, kdy tov\u00e1rna spadala pod veden\u00ed sov\u011btsk\u00e9ho podniku Awtowelo Moskva, bylo rozhodnuto o v\u00fdrob\u011b lidov\u00e9ho motocyklu. P\u0159\u00edkaz z Moskvy byl sm\u011b\u0159ov\u00e1n na strojn\u00ed in\u017een\u00fdry Ewalda D\u00e4hna, kter\u00fd byl jmenov\u00e1n vedouc\u00edm projektu, a Helmuta Pitze. V\u00fdvojov\u00fd t\u00fdm se skl\u00e1dal ze zam\u011bstnanc\u016f, kte\u0159\u00ed se do t\u00e9 doby v\u011bnovali v\u00fdvoji zbran\u00ed. Pro inspiraci se tedy nezku\u0161en\u00fd D\u00e4hn vydal do Berl\u00edna, kde se pr\u00e1v\u011b vracel do v\u00fdloh prodejen motocykl BMW R23, a bylo rozhodnuto.<\/p>\n<p>Pro moskevsk\u00e9 veden\u00ed pouze okop\u00edroval z\u00e1kladn\u00ed technick\u00e1 data z prospektu BMW: 250 ccm, 12 kon\u00ed p\u0159i 5600 ot.\/min, \u010dty\u0159rychlostn\u00ed p\u0159evodovka, sekund\u00e1rn\u00ed p\u0159evod h\u0159\u00eddel\u00ed (\u0159et\u011bz byl v t\u00e9 dob\u011b na v\u00fdchod\u011b N\u011bmecka t\u00e9m\u011b\u0159 nedostupn\u00fd), max. rychlost 100 Km\/h, spot\u0159eba 3,3 litr\u016f\/100 km. V l\u00e9t\u011b 1949 byly hotov\u00e9 prvn\u00ed prototypy, kter\u00e9 byly do za\u010d\u00e1tku s\u00e9riov\u00e9 v\u00fdroby po\u010d\u00e1tkem roku 1950 v n\u011bkter\u00fdch detailech zlep\u0161eny. Zna\u010dka motocyklu AWO byla zvolena jako zkratka moskevsk\u00e9ho podniku Awtowelo a typ 425 podle \u010dty\u0159taktn\u00edho motoru a 250 ccm obsahu. Motocykly AWO ov\u0161em nejsou a\u017e tak v\u011brnou napodobeninou, jak by se mohlo na prvn\u00ed pohled zd\u00e1t. V\u00fdchodon\u011bmeck\u00e1 zbrojovka se m\u016f\u017ee pochlubit i n\u011bkter\u00fdmi zlep\u0161en\u00edmi v\u016f\u010di BMW, kter\u00e9 bylo inspirac\u00ed. Je to nap\u0159\u00edklad magneto zapalov\u00e1n\u00ed nez\u00e1visl\u00e9 na baterii, pohon va\u010dkov\u00e9ho h\u0159\u00eddele ozuben\u00fdm soukol\u00edm, vl\u00e1senkov\u00e1 pera ventilov\u00fdch pru\u017ein nebo \u00fa\u010dinn\u00e1 chlad\u00edc\u00ed \u0161achta p\u0159\u00edmo nad spalovac\u00edm prostorem. Ani vzhledov\u011b nen\u00ed AWO nikterak identick\u00e9 s BMW R23. Na prvn\u00ed pohled je u AWO odli\u0161n\u00fd robustn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed motor, d\u00e1le hranat\u011bj\u0161\u00ed tvar blatn\u00edk\u016f, tvar n\u00e1dr\u017ee a \u010detn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed linkov\u00e1n\u00ed okrov\u00fdmi a b\u00edl\u00fdmi linkami, kter\u00e9 dod\u00e1v\u00e1 motocyklu sportovn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed vzhled. Naprosto identick\u00e9 s BMW jsou ale n\u011bkter\u00e9 d\u00edly, kter\u00e9 nevyr\u00e1b\u011bl p\u0159\u00edmo Suhl. Jedn\u00e1 se o v\u011brn\u00e9 v\u00fdchodon\u011bmeck\u00e9 kopie renomovan\u00fdch z\u00e1padon\u011bmeck\u00fdch v\u00fdrobc\u016f a stupa\u010dky zn. M\u00f6we, gumov\u00fd sed\u00e1k zn. MEWA tachometr MAW, houka\u010dka a reflektor IKA jako by z oka vypadly sv\u00fdm nevlastn\u00edm sourozenc\u016fm z rodin SUM, Magura, Drilastic, Veigel, Bosch a Hella.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Dal\u0161\u00ed zm\u011bny p\u0159i\u0161ly se vznikem NDR. V roce 1952 neu\u0161la zn\u00e1rodn\u011bn\u00ed ani Suhlsk\u00e1 zbrojovka a pod nov\u00fdm n\u00e1zvem VEB Fahrzeug un Ger\u00e4tewerk Simson Suhl pokra\u010dovala ve v\u00fdrob\u011b s drobn\u00fdmi praktick\u00fdmi zm\u011bnami v detailech motocyklu, kter\u00fd se ji\u017e tolik nehl\u00e1sil k p\u016fvodn\u00edmu ozna\u010den\u00ed a postupn\u011b b\u011bhem let p\u0159ech\u00e1zel p\u0159es zna\u010dku Simson-AWO a\u017e k \u010dist\u00e9mu Simsonu jako sou\u010d\u00e1st koncernu IFA. K pom\u011brn\u011b slab\u00e9mu motocyklu, av\u0161ak s celkem robustn\u00edm r\u00e1mem, se v t\u00e9to dob\u011b za\u010dal vyr\u00e1b\u011bt velmi \u00fahledn\u00fd sidecar zn.
